Duplicating of record is one of those nifty features that doesn’t exist in PowerApps / Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales / Customer Service out-of-the-box. Using Zap Copy Record App you can Copy, Clone or Duplicate Records in single click!

In the latest release (Nov 23) of Zap Copy Record App, we have added a new functionality called as “Copy Recurrence”. This allows you to automate COPY/CLONE of any record based on a defined recurrence pattern.

In this blog, we will show you how to create a “Recurring Opportunity” using Zap Copy Record App.

Let’s first go through the use-case: Renewal Opportunity:
You have sold an annual contract — at the point of winning the first sale, you already know there is an opportunity to renew the contract in a year’s time. “Copy Recurrence” gives you a quick and easy way to schedule the “Clone” of your original opportunity and put that back in your pipeline whenever the renewal is due.

Below would be the steps to create a “Recurring Opportunity”:

Step 1: Open the required opportunity record.
Step 2: From ribbon, click button “Set Copy Recurrence”
Step 3: Select the recurrence pattern and save!

Here we are selecting “Recurrence Type” as “Once” and “Start Date” as 11 months from now…

This opportunity record will automatically get CLONED / COPIED in 11 months and will be available in your sales pipeline! Your sales team will follow-up and then probably close this opportunity… and then have a newer recurrence set for getting this record cloned again in 11 months.

Another approach could be to have the Opportunity record be cloned automatically every year – X days prior to renewal date (until we cancel). As shown in below screenshot… we have set “Recur Every X Months” to 12, X days before due-date as 30…

With this automation set… the opportunity will get CLONED every year … 30 days prior to renewal.

This way the sales team can easily follow-up for renewals!!!
